December is one of the most popular times of the year to visit Egypt, both as a result of the weather and the school holidays in most of the northern hemisphere. The reason that the weather makes December so popular to visit, is because the temperatures are a lot lower during this time of the year, making it more pleasant to walk around the tourist sights without breaking a sweat.
It is a little cold to go on a beach holiday in Egypt in December, but if you prefer lower temperatures on the beach it is definitely still doable, or if you are planning on going snorkeling or participating in water sports.

Fantastic Southeast Asia Trip
![]() We had an excellent time in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand on our trip organized by Asia Highlights. Without their excellent guides and itinerary we would not have been able to experience everything we had in less than 2 weeks. All of the guides and drivers were incredibly helpful and considerate of our needs. Thank you Borin (Cambodia), Mui (Bangkok), Lee (Bangkok), Tip (Pattaya), Abe and other staff for coordinating an awesome vacation for us!! More

4. Crowds and Cost
December is peak tourist season in Egypt, due to the combination of weather and the school holidays. This means that if you are planning to visit Egypt in December, you'll likely be paying a little extra, due to higher demand for flights and accommodation, and you'll need to make sure that you book ahead of time as the most popular hotels can book out.
If you are celebrating Christmas and the New Year in Egypt, departing before December 20th is also beneficial for obtaining cheaper international flight tickets.
You'll also experience more crowding at some of Egypt's top destinations in December, with people coming from all over the world to marvel at Egypt's treasures during this time of the year.

5. What to Wear in Egypt in December
As December is a cooler time to visit Egypt, you'll need to make sure you dress appropriately. This means bringing an additional layer to wear during the evenings, when temperatures are lower. We also recommend bringing a coat or a jacket for after the sun goes down.
If you are visiting the beach, you'll likely not need your coat, but do expect a difference in temperature between daytime and the night. UV levels will still be high regardless of where you're visiting, and so we also recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses for your time in Egypt.
